The Maryland Department of the Environment has received a bronze designation from the Northeast Recycling Council.
The state participates in the council’s State Electronics Challenge, which recognizes efforts to purchase environmentally friendly electronics including computers and related equipment. Robert M. Summers, MDE secretary, said he hopes the award would “influence other Maryland state agencies and businesses to look for ways to green their procurement practices.”
