Sims Recycling Solutions, the world's largest electronics recycler, has become the first recycling sponsor for the Northeast Recycling Council's (NERC) State Electronics Challenge. This Challenge is particularly important because it was created to help encourage state, regional, and local governments, including schools, colleges, universities, and other public entities to: purchase greener electronic products, reduce the impact of computers during use and manage obsolete computers in an environmentally safe way.
Sims's contribution will support national and regional efforts to decrease the environmental footprint of computer equipment. The concern for electronic waste ending up in landfill has risen dramatically due to the increase in awareness on the issues related with improper disposal. Cell phones, computers, televisions and laptops all contain several hazardous components that, if land filled, will eventually end up in our soil. Sims Recycling Solutions is dedicated to environmentally responsible recycling and supporting any efforts that will raise awareness on the significant reasons of why proper disposal methods are vital.
