Overview

The Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) Solid Waste Management Program oversees the state’s waste reduction, diversion, and safe disposal programs. The State Materials Management Plan (MMP) was revised and adopted in November 2019.

The Solid Waste Program oversees rules, policies, compliance, permits, programs, and planning related to solid waste management in the state. The Program also provides solid waste technical assistance and grants to towns and solid waste districts to help support collection of household hazardous waste, recycling, composting, waste reduction, and reuse activities.

You can follow the Solid Waste Program on Twitter and on Facebook for notices and events.
